After spending a weekend in Wisconsin visiting Ethan's fam, I've developed a list of reasons Wisconsin is pretty great.
1. Summerfest. The World's largest music festival! Can I get a Hallelujah, please?!
2. Fireworks...Everywhere and legit ones at that.
3. Cheese...lots of cheese. more cheese. cheese everywhere.
4. Lakes and water sports to accompany them. Illinois doesn't have enough lakes.
5.Alphabetized county roads. CW sounds so much better than 1200 N.

assumptions, expectations...and some coffee.
I promised a blog post by Thursday. While it is technically Friday now, I haven't gone to bed so it still counts as Thursday. So here we go....
In the last post I said I would address my other reasons for starting a blog in greater depth in an upcoming post. This is it! (Oooo disclaimer.... none of my reasons for starting to blog have more significance than others.)
So if you haven't guessed by the blog title...I like coffee. A lot. I'm going to blog about coffee...a lot. (Reason #2) Speaking of coffee- I am excited to report that I have discovered my new favorite coffee beverage Iced Toddy Coffee cut with skim milk from the Garlic Press Cafe and Market. Soooo delicious. Don't tell, but I had two of them today. It was a good day.
In August I'll begin this adventure called graduate school. The next two years will be full of academic pursuits in interpersonal communication. (I'm very excited!...dorky...maybe?..but o well.) I plan to write about various interpersonal communication theories, phenomena, techniques, and so on that fascinate me. (Reason #3).
What was the whole assumptions and expectations bit about??... i'm tired. more on that later.

A blogging lesson from Julie and Julia.
I've been meaning to post something for the last couple of weeks....Ok I've been meaning to post about several things. However, the intent to post stayed that. intent.
That is until this evening.
This evening Sydney and I watched Julie & Julia. Cute movie. The movie carried themes of reaching your goals, self-fufillment, food (of course), and adventures in blogging. After watching it I was re-inspired to blog not just because of all the blogging Amy Adams does throughout the movie. The inspiration came from the importance placed on relationships throughout the movie. The importance of Julie's relationship with her husband, her girlfriends, her co-workers, her readers, and so on and so forth.
That was one the reasons I wanted to start blogging in the first place. To start discussion about the importance of those around us by writing about my everyday adventures with the fabulous people in my life.
Today's adventure: hanging out with my 12 year-old brother, Jake. He's legit and pretty funny too.
His request for today...that I stand by his cow so he could take a picture of me with the cow. Normally, I would look at him quizzically and ask a ton of questions about WHY he WANTED my picture with the cow. In the end I would oblige.
But today...was one of those days where I woke up (after my little brother called to see when I would be arriving for my visit). Traded one set of pajamas for another. Stuck my toothbrush in my tote bag. (so as not to ruin my coffee with toothpaste after-taste). Got in the car and started driving to Congerville (my home town). Hair, make-up, and real clothes were all neglected. This meant that I was not in any condition to have my picture taken with the cow.
I still don't know why he wants to take my picture with the cow. I'm going to blame Mom for scrapbooking EVERYTHING. The photo shoot with the cow was rescheduled for Saturday during my sister's 20th birthday party. hmmmmm....should be interesting.
I'll write about the other reasons I started blogging in upcoming posts. Expect one around Thursday.

Going to start this thing...
One day mid-semester the Fantastic Anna Weiss suggested I start a blog. Well this is the start of the blog she suggested.
What is some red headed, almost graduate student, who is really likes caffeine going to blog about, you might ask?...the answer to that is life. I am going to blog about the adventures of life as lulu. (that's me. Hi..if you don't know me. I'm lulu.)
Stay tuned. I'm just getting started. Not only with this whole blog thing, but life too. A few weeks ago it seemed that life would end when I graduated from Bradley University. Now I understand that its just getting started. Ready. Set. Go.
